The booking sites with the best inventory in Asia are usually the ones with the worst support for foreign cards. Knowing which of the three product shapes you need saves a lot of failed checkouts.
Credit, ticket, or pass
Booking credit sits in your own account and applies at checkout — Klook, KKday, Trip.com, Traveloka, Agoda, Airbnb. Attraction tickets are dated and delivered as a scannable QR — Universal Studios Japan and Singapore, Tokyo Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland, Lotte World, Everland, Ocean Park. Rail passes are foreigner-only products that legally must be purchased before you arrive.
Mixing these up is the usual mistake. A KORAIL Pass cannot be bought at Seoul Station once you are in the country, and a dated Tokyo Disney passport cannot be moved to a different day.
The domestic-only booking sites
Yanolja and Yeogi Eottae hold the Korean pension and motel inventory that never appears on Booking.com. Rakuten Travel and Jalan hold the Japanese ryokan and business-hotel stock. Ctrip covers mainland domestic flights and high-speed rail. All four price in local currency behind a domestic payment gateway.
Loading their credit before you search means the payment step is already done when you find the room.
Don't forget connectivity and fares
